Requirements at your schools

Hello, I am beginning a chapter in our school and would love feedback on your minimum grade point averages and levels for induction. I am considering a 3.5 minimum accum. in Spanish and the requirement that prospective members be in Spanish III or above.

I really appreciate any input experienced sponsors may give me.

  1. Hola!. The requirements for our school include that students be actively enrolled in Spanish 3 or higher, have a cumulative Spanish average of 90 of better AND a cumulative general average of 85. They must have never failed a marking period in Spanish. This seems to have helped us get the students who are truly interested in the language and want to participate in the chapter activities. Buena Suerte!

  3. Mucho gusto! At our school, I’m pretty sure students have to have at least a B average in their Spanish classes. They can apply and be inducted during the year they take Spanish II. Also, students must have participated in the school’s Spanish Club for a year before applying for Spanish Honor Society.

  4. ¡Hola! Our students must have earned the grade of “A” in Spanish for five semesters and promote the language within our school. This means we hear them using Spanish at their team practices for warm-ups (for example), through tutoring individual students or in our after school learning lounge, or, by being a member in our World Language Clubs.

  5. Hola:
Each semester they need to earn 3 community service credits, tutoring, participating in fundraiser or hispanic festivals. Also come to the biweekly meetings one meeting is for busness and the other to have conversational Spanish, practice the NSE, watch movie or other fun activities. If they are going to miss a meeting they need to bring a signed paper by their parents or couch of the other activitivy. I ope this helps you
