Honorary members?

My chapter will not be official until the fall, and I have a handful of students that were with me in Spanish 3 and 4 this year that I would like to induct as honorary members next year. They will not be able to take another year due to schedule constraints or the fact that we don’t offer language past the fourth year. Can I induct them at my discretion to the chapter?

Is my opinion that the “honorary” membership is the right option for your situation. I recalled that I had the same situation in my previous school some years ago. I was told by National that the students should not be “punish” if they don’t have a Spanish class to take but nevertheless they are not considered active members. They could not participate in the junior travel or the senior scholarship competition or hold a position such as secretary, or president. In our chapter we are going to use cords for graduation and the students are not going to receive one if they are not active members.
