Also, I’ve heard several people say that they can’t do the candle-lighting because of fire codes.  What are people doing instead? (in case we run into it since we are thinking about a change of venue)

Our chapter belong to a new school and being a new school we have many “first” experiences. The most recent happened on Thursday, April 24, when six sophomores were inducted into the Society.  To be a member of this chapter a student must have a 93% grade average or higher in the study of Spanish and a GPA of 3.3 or above. . The new member are Jessica Blakely, Marah Lynch, Cuyler Otsuka, Ramona Roy, James Mina and Chelsie Baclig.  Their advisor is Nydia Santiago- Cordero, Spanish teacher and Chair of World Languages at IPA.  Island Pacific Academy is an independent, non-denominational, co-educational university preparatory school in Kapolei, Hawaii that began enrolling students in 2004.

La ceremonia fue especialmente conmovedora ya que se celebró en una pequeña capilla que tiene el altar y cuadros hechos por los indios Seminolas especialmente para la primera capilla del colegio.Los estudiantes recitaron poemas de Lorca, Bécquer y Neruda. El poema que escogimos para la ceremonia fue Proverbios y Cantares, XXIX de Antonio Machado. Como en el poema,”al andar se hace camino”, y estamos hacienda camino al iniciar un nuevo capitulo de la sociedad.
