They will not be able to take another year due to schedule constraints or the fact that we don’t offer language past the fourth year. Can I induct them at my discretion to the chapter?

Colleagues,

I own and operate El Instituto de Español Moderno in Merida, Yucatan, M. We help local Mexican students find opportunities to travel to the USA and Canada to study English.

Most of our students attend a boarding school in Pennsylvania, but a few of our enrollees are unable to raise the funds for the full year of study at the boarding school.

These students are, however, enthusiastic about improving their English - and have a great desire to travel abroad and do well. So, I committed to contact all our last year’s Institute of Modern Spanish students and a few others to see if I could find a host family for them.

This is a cultural exchange, so the student would commit to help the members of the host family learn and practice Spanish 4-6 hours per week. The Institute of Modern Spanish will provide training and materials for the student to be able to teach Spanish to the host family. I would really appreciate if you can receive a student or locate a host family for him/her.

The Mexican student will also contribute a mutually agreeable amount for his /her expenses, estimated at $250 per month to cover food expenses.

In exchange the host family will provide the student with a room to sleep and help him/her enroll at a local public high school near by (the student will pay for tuition and books, as necessary).

Here’s what I’m asking right now.
Specifically, I am looking for a host family for Luis, a very nice, well-mannered and smart young man. He is now 16 years old and a freshman in high school. He would like to enroll in a high school, but depending on the cost he may attend English classes at a local academy.

Unfortunately his family is not able to pay the costs for the Pennsylvania boarding school, so I am helping him find a school within his family’s budget for travel and education expenses.

He wants to spend the 2008-2009 school year in the USA and it would not be a problem for him to teach Spanish and even spend half the time with one host family and then move with another family that also desires Spanish lessons.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you very much for your help.

¡Muchas Gracias!
